PAV LIVING ART PARK, Turin Experimental Centre of Contemporary Art, is pleased to announce the PAV PRIZE 2012 – INTO THE HABITAT, 2nd edition of the international art landscaping competition.
In the PAV PRIZE 2012, the concept of “ethos of the living” is meant as the relationship with the environment through the theme INTO THE HABITAT, a creative possibility where the connection between living beings and the park is established through the action of inhabiting.
Purpose of the PAV PRIZE 2012 is to realize an environmental site-specific artwork in the territory of PAV, creating a new scenario where you can express a sense of community participation. So, suggesting an intervention in the area of PAV means to reflect on the ways to live and make experience of the urban spaces. In fact, an urban and open space can become, by re-organizing its parts in semantic possibilities, challenging spaces for art production and newcultures. The shape of a shelter will be the outcome of the relationship between art practices and the ways of living the public space by local communities, PAV audience and the neighbourhood.
Then, the general goal of the PAV PRIZE is to produce an art installation designed by artists or group of professionals (architects, landscapists, designers, etc), addressing to local inhabitants and PAV audience with the following aims:
1. Promoting forms of citizen participation in a more critical way of understanding the urban life;
2. Creating new sharing areas – also through symbolic objects – that suggest the idea of meeting as in the ancient meaning of agora;
3. Suggesting new forms of aggregation in order to generate challenging ways of spontaneous co-inhabitation.
The notice and the contents of PAV PRIZE 2012 will be released in our website on September 1st 2011.
